Find Scholarships on the Top 4 Reasons to get a Post-Secondary Education

The Top 4 Reasons to get a Post-Secondary Education

Find Scholarships Online

As kids return to high school to start their senior year, one of the most common questions they will face is “what are your plans after high school?”. One of the questions kids commonly ask is whether a postsecondary education is worth the money. At Find Scholarships Online, we know that the value of post-secondary education is well worth the costs involved. In this blog, we highlight the top 4 reasons why post-secondary education is important.

  1. Personal Development

One of the greatest benefits of attending higher education is the personal development that it can provide for you during your tenure. At university or college, you can learn key skills that can carry you forward regardless of your career choice. One of these skills is critical thinking. While you might develop a base level during your time at high school, university classes ensure that you are developing critical thinking skills to be able to excel. Critical thinking is something that employers from all career paths prize and look for in potential employees as those who can think critically are the people that can generate new ideas for the company and solve problems as they arise.

A second form of personal development that you learn in higher education is that you realize your passion. While you might know general fields that you enjoy from high school, university allows you to narrow your focus to specifically the things that you are the most passionate about. By finding a field that you are passionate about, you are more likely to enjoy whichever career you choose after your education is completed.

  1. Career Prep

One of the great things about colleges is that they help you prepare for your career. Unlike in high school, where you are taught general knowledge about many different fields, in college you focus on one specific field of work and learn all about it. Post-secondary education focuses on helping you to develop your skillset towards one specific field and your classes are all tailored towards that field. For example, if you wanted to go into a career in accounting, your courses would focus on math, economics, business, and accounting so that everything is built towards improving your capabilities in the field.

If you are unaware of what you want to specialize in when you enter university, that is also fine. In fact, most students in post-secondary education are not entirely sure where their passion lies. Many universities even encourage incoming students to not select an area of focus until after their first – and sometimes even second – year. This allows students to try a variety of subjects that they are potentially interested in so that they can start to learn what they want.

  1. Higher Employment Rates

One of the lesser thought of benefits that post-secondary education provides is a greatly likelihood of getting a job and keeping it. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics/Haver Analytics, US unemployment rates for people that have graduated from post-secondary education is significantly lower than anyone with less education. Even during the financial crisis that started in 2007, unemployment rates for post-secondary educated workers remained below 5% while people who only finished high school rose to over 10% unemployment. Every year, more new jobs are requiring workers to have a minimum of an undergraduate degree for entry-level jobs which is furthering the struggle that people who do not attend post-secondary education face when entering the job market.

  1. Earn More Money

Last, but certainly not least, students who complete a post-secondary education make more money than those who do not. While many people are nervous that the money that they spend on post-secondary education is not worth the amount of money that they might make, new reports have proven that the old claims were significantly underestimating the pay gap. A report from the U.K. has shown that job seekers with a degree can earn more than 500,000 GBP more than someone who does not have a degree. That equates to over a 12,500 GBP bonus each year for completing post-secondary education. In the U.S., the “college wage premium” – the increase in salary an average college graduate sees in relation to a high school graduate – is currently over $30000 a year.

In conclusion, while post-secondary education may be a financial burden to start with, the benefits that can be gained significantly outweigh the potential negatives. If you are seeking financial assistance, one of the best ways to get money to put towards education is through a scholarship. Find Scholarships Online provides scholarships to universities and colleges in both the United States and Canada to help youth achieve their post-secondary goals.

MAINTAINING TRUST

Preserving the Trust that Children have for their Bus Drivers, and the Bus

Millions of times each day, a school bus driver will bring her bus to a stop and activate the red lights and the stop arm on the bus. A child steps off the curb to cross the road and board the bus that’s waiting to take him to school. The child trusts the bus driver and feels safe on the bus. Children are used to this routine. They trust us. They trust the school employees, their teachers, their bus drivers, and the bus. So when the school bus driver tells a student that it’s safe to board the bus, they are counting on us to keep them safe. They trust other motorists to obey the law, to respect their safety, and to stop for those red flashing lights on the school bus. Then out of nowhere, that trust is broken when a car passes a school bus when it should have stopped. A child’s life is now in the hands of a motorist who ignores flashing red lights and doesn’t respect the safety of a child. Motorists illegally pass stopped school buses tens of thousands of times each day in North America. BusPatrol America cares about student safety. We educate motorists every day by helping to enforce the law and work with school officials to improve safety. Our products and services cost taxpayers nothing. Not a cent. We hope more school districts call on us to help preserve the trust that children have as they travel to and from school every day.

Find Scholarships Online Provides 3 Tips to Help you Nail your Scholarship Interview

Education is an integral part of one’s success, as it equips an individual with the knowledge, connection, and confidence to make the leap towards becoming a professional in their craft. The issue with this is that higher education can be extremely costly.

Many people are unable to fund their education, forcing them to become stagnated in the same position for many years. The longer one goes without receiving the education they need to advance in their career, the more difficult it will be to actually land those desirable positions.

Luckily, there are many scholarship programs available for those who are looking for an opportunity to further their education. However, the competition for the best opportunity is always stiff. This is why you need to put yourself in the best position to receive any chances that may come your way.

The interview is the last fortress that stands between you and the scholarship you’re applying for. If you’re looking for some tips on how to improve your chances, here are three that you need to keep in mind:

1. DRESS TO IMPRESS

Your physical appearance is the first attribute that an interviewer will see as you walk through the door, which means that it is the basis for that immediate first impression. You want to attend your interview in your best professional attire to ensure that you look as presentable as possible. Make sure to be formal, yet friendly, as that will help you to feel more approachable but professional at the same time.

2. DO YOUR RESEARCH AHEAD OF TIME

It’s smart to try and predict what the interviewers are going to ask you even before they utter a word, as that will ensure that you aren’t flustered and are able to provide the best answers to their questions.

You need to know who is the one providing the scholarship and what they are looking to get out of it, as this will help you to provide a more precise answer for anything they may ask. We recommend you go onto the website of the provider of that scholarship to see what they look for and try to develop a list of potential questions that might be hurled your way.

One thing to keep in mind is that you have to be yourself, as that will help to distinguish you from the other candidates. Everybody has a script for what to say, but many of them will just copy it from resources found the internet. We’re not saying that you shouldn’t learn about how you should craft your answer, but you do need to make sure that it doesn’t sound too generic and boring.

3. DON’T FORGET TO ASK QUESTIONS

At the end of the interview, you will often be asked if you have any questions. This is a great time for you to show your critical thinking skills, as you will get to ask them about the program, what you will be expected to do afterward, and what you can expect from them. The interviewers will get to see how much you care about your future and the opportunity to land your scholarship, as having a good list of questions will help to show that you are paying attention.

Find Scholarships Online Discusses No Essay Scholarships: What You Need to Know

A scholarship provides a deserving student with funds to help support their pursuit of higher education, most commonly in the form of financial grants or subsidized school fees. Scholarships are unique in the sense that unlike student loans, a student or borrower is not required to pay back the lender or institution that provided the funds.

There are various scholarships available that are specifically designed to help students get through their schooling to build better careers and contribute more to society without the looming student debt. Some of the larger scholarships are more commonly known as full-ride scholarships will cover all the costs associated with schooling, while others will cover only tuition fees. Some scholarships require students to study at specific institutions and are only eligible to those who attend a specific school or program.

Landing a scholarship is the goal of many students who are about to enter post-secondary studies, but many find the application process rather challenging. For one, many scholarships require the submission of a detailed essay, that typically outlines why the applicant is a deserving candidate. For students who have not fully developed their writing skills, crafting an essay that will help them secure a scholarship may not be feasible and will likely be a discouraging task. This is why many students wonder, are there no essay scholarships that I can apply for?

When you search online for no essay scholarships, you’re likely to stumble upon some awards promoted as such, so you must be careful and fully read the information provided. However, in general, those no essay scholarships may not be as simple and straightforward as they seem to be.

No Essay Scholarships: What Are They and Whether They Really Exist

No essay scholarships are like sweepstakes raffles in the way that students are first required to provide their personal information to get a chance to win money for education. While this sounds like a typical scholarship application, it’s different in such a way that the recipient is chosen at random. Everyone else participating in the scholarship raffle will probably be in for a rude awakening when their information is used by the institution or company for secondary purposes.

In some cases, companies and institutions providing the “scholarship” use the participants’ information for marketing purposes. Some may even sell the information to other companies and schools, which will also use the information for marketing. By selling the information, the institution is able to profit off the participants’ information and fund the so-called no essay scholarship.

This practice is common in contests and raffles that are run by commercial institutions. Furthermore, some have opt-in and out options, although they are usually buried in the fine print to not be noticed.

Can Anyone Really Win an Easy Scholarship?

Have you ever won a big raffle? Chances are that sadly you haven’t been the winner of a random draw prize. The unfortunate truth regarding no essay scholarships is that it’s incredibly difficult to win one. The chances of winning are very slim, especially when there is a large population of student applicants participating. No essay scholarships will attract a significant number of applicants who will hurriedly sign up for a raffle because there are generally no requirements and restrictions, such as a minimum GPA. Your name will be only one out of the hundreds or thousands who will try their luck.

So, can you really win an easy scholarship? The answer could be ‘yes’ — if you’re lucky enough to have picked for a legitimate scholarship.

Are No Essay Scholarships Safe?

While it’s true that there are sweepstakes-type scholarship offers out there that come from reputable companies, there are also scams that can masquerade as one. It has always been a golden rule that when something seems too good to be true, it probably is. The same can be applied to these no essay scholarship offers; you must be vigilant and carefully assess an offer before you give out any of your personal information.

Better yet, spend your time and effort applying for trusted scholarships.
